People look at me quizically when I say sourcing has a good amount of statistics involved in it. Now comes this study that explains what it all means. Sourcing had this figgered out a long time ago!

Somehow, it doesn't surprise me San Jose has 17% more men than women - can anyone tell me what one reason might be?

People Still Prefer Coastlines

Coasts Are Tops as CA and NYC Are Most Popular Places People Would Choose to Live, According to Latest Harris Poll

Easy access to the beach seems to be a key factor in deciding which state people would choose to live. According to a new Harris Poll, California remains number 1 this year, followed by Florida, which moved up from number three and Hawaii, which has dropped from number two. Florida has been in the top three ever since this question was first asked in 1997. When it comes to which city people would live in, New York City comes in as number one for the ninth time (out of the last 10 opportunities), San Diego, CA moves up one spot to second and Seattle, WA also moves up one place to be the third most popular city.

The next most popular states in which people would like to live are: North Carolina (#4, remaining the same as last year); Colorado (#5, moving up from #7); Texas (#6, dropping from #5); New York (#7, moving up from #8); Arizona (#8, moving up from #9); and Oregon (#9, moving up from #10). Three states are tied for the tenth spot on this list: Washington (was #6 last year); Tennessee (was #11 last year) and Virginia (was #12 last year).

Census Bureau Report Shows Surprising Demographic Changes That Will Impact Housing In the Future

The latest 1,200-table American Community Survey from the U.S. Census Bureau indicates key changes in social, economic, and housing characteristics for the nation including more older workers and more households with non-English-speaking occupants.

Wages have not kept up with inflation, which is one of the reasons why nearly one in four people between the ages of 65 and 74 (23.2 percent) are still in the labor force (either working or looking for work) in 2006. That's an increase from 19.6 percent in 2000. States with some of the lowest rates of older workers in the labor force include West Virginia (15.7 percent), Michigan (18.8 percent) and Arizona (19.4 percent). Michigan and Arizona were not statistically different.
